Charting limitations/workarounds? in FMP 11
There are a few things I'd like to do with charts in FileMaker 11
that seem impossible --
and I wonder if there are any work-arounds:
1. I'd like to have x-axis labels that are from a field that is
different from the one from which x-axis values are taken.
I am frequently charting tens of thousands of data points (which
FileMaker renders faster than Excel for Mac!) -- so the x-axis labels
turn into a big black blob of overlapping text.
E.g. I can create an x-axis label field that contains every thousands
value, or a non-blank label for the first day of each month (for a
chart of hourly data spanning years), etc.
But FileMaker does not seem to be able to take x-axis values from one
field and x-axis value labels from another field.
Any way?
2. Is there a way to have multiple (at least two) y-axes (e.g. one
scale on the left-hand y-axis, and one scale on the right-hand x-axis)
3. I'd like to select my own colors for each data series. (The stock
colors provided in the application don't present the data as clearly
as I would like.)
Do work-arounds for these types of thing exist yet?
(So far, I still have to use awful Excel for charting -- but I'd love
to start to phase in FMP.)
Thanks!
