FMP 6 question: Go to Next Record/Request by field value
Yeah, I know I'm using an ancient version of FMP. But can somebody
help me understand how the above referenced script step works? The
discussion in the help file is pretty thin, and it really doesn't even
include a clearly laid out example.
FWIW, this is what got me to trying to use this script step.
I have a set of line items. Some of the line items are missing a value
in a field. It's easy enough to find all the records missing the
value, except that I really need to be able to see these records in
the context of the other line items that already have a value in this
field, so I can assign the correct value in the line items missing the
value.
What I'm hoping to do is build a script step that will jump to the
next record in the found set where the value is missing from the
field. I finding all these records, creating a separate field, and
then populating it with a serial number, so they go, 1, 2 , 3, 4, etc.
Then I did a find for all the line items I need, including items that
already have the value.
I was hoping that Go to Next Record/Request using the above referenced
serial number field, would jump me sequentially through all the
records with the new serial number value. But it didn't work.
If anyone has a different approach to accomplishing my goal here, feel
free to suggest it.
TIA,
JL
