[FMPro] Charting in FMP12
Hi all,
Trying to get my head around how to produce a chart in FM based on a
relationship, but struggling.
I have 2 tables...
Entries
Dashboard
Applicable Fields...
Entries::Month
Entries::Year
Dashboard::SelectedYear
The tables are related as follows
Dashboard::SelectedYear = Entries::Year
In dashboard I would now like to show a chart.
There is a dropdown for the user to select which year we should be looking
at (SelectedYear)
User selects 2012
Now, I would like the chart to show the X axis as months and the Y axis as
the amount of records found for each particular month.
Regardless of what optiosn I seem to set, I cannot display this.
There are 2 main issues. Firstly the X axis should ALWAYS show Jan, Feb,
Mar, Apr.. etc
I am not sure how to do this because if there is no records for March, it
will not show this column (I'd like it to show with 0 records in the chart)
Secondly I have a summary field in Entries...
Entries::SummaryMonth
SummaryMonth is a count of Month
This is what I want to show on the Y axis but each month just always shows
the total number of records found.
So for example, my test data is as follows...
Record1: 2011 | May
Record2: 2012 | Feb
Record3: 2012 | Aug
Record4: 2012 | Aug
If I set the selected year to 2011 I get a chart with 1 X axis entry (May)
and it shows 1 record.
It is right to show 1 record, but I would like all the other months to show
with 0 records
If I set it to 2012
The X axis shows...
AUG AUG JUL
Each x axis entry record showing 3 records.
It's all a bit of a mess at the moment. Is what I am trying to do achievable
in FM? and if so please could you give me some pointers of where I'm going
wrong?
Many thanks
Ed
