When I click on a field that I have specified not to have a fill color, it
takes on the background color of the layout. Has anyone figured out a trick
to keep the active field transparent?

The problem is that I have my transparent field on top of a gradient that I
want to maintain while the user is entering their text.

I am trying to avoid being forced into using the fugly and outdated
interface tools that Filemaker has so frustratingly not updated since 1995.

I really wish FileMaker would let is design interface with something like
CSS. Almost every Filemaker solution that I have ever seen fails to create
the illusion of being a custom application because of the stupid GUI
limitations that Filemaker fails to update year after year. (Ugly scroll
bars with no ability to changes the size. Ugly drop-down menus and pop-up
menus. No rollovers. No freeform shapes for buttons. No rounded fields. Ugh,
I could go on all day!)
