[FMPro] Import Folder-not doing what I want-Import multiple files
FileMaker experts,
Am I missing something, with the Import Folder command?
Is this really designed to be used with pictures only?
It sort of works with text files, but I'll have to spend some time designing a script to get the end result I want.
The issue: I want to import multiple text files. There are about 40 separate text files, with about 30 records (lines) each. I want to end up with one FMP file with 1,000 records.
If I was doing it manually, I would import one, then do a "replace" command for a "category" field for those 30 records. Then do the next one. They're all exactly the same structure, with only two fields that I need to import.
"Import Folder" gives a weird result. I end up with 40 records. It puts all the original data in one field, which I will have to script to end up with separate records.
Does anyone have a better way to do this? Or have already done the script, to make it easier? Or I am missing something? Is there a better way to do this?
Thank you,
Kevin
