IWP authentication and scripting woes
I have a solution that I use once each year to accumulate employee
votes and generate reports. This year, I'm having two new problems.
First, I navigated to the authentication page, copied the URL, and
instructed users to follow that link, log in, and cast their ballots.
It worked fine for several hours, then started routing people to the
IWP home page. I suspect that it may have something to do with the
"jsessionid" string included in the link, but am too ignorant to tell.
Since I didn't wish to tinker with a live database and risk losing
ballots, I sent another email giving users the database name and
instructing them to follow its link from the IWP home page. Not a
major problem, except see below.
Second, the tool prevents double voting by checking a field named
voterHasVoted. It is initially set to "No" in all records. When the
voter submits his ballot, a step late in the script changes
voterHasVoted to "Yes" before exiting the application. This worked
properly until the problem described above. When people started
navigating from the IWP home page, rather than directly to the
authentication page, the script broke. It records votes, but does not
set voterHasVoted to "Yes". I'm having manually to mark that people
have voted. I'm glad that I have only 190 voters, and not 5,000.
Can anyone shed any light on either or both of these problems?
