Importing photos from FileMaker into InDesign
I'm posting this to both the FileMaker and InDesign lists since it's possible people on both can answer this question.
I have 435 records in FMP 10. All contain one photo. I have a calculated field to export all the text fields with InDesign paragraph tags, so that the exported file can flow into InD CS4 already formatted (ie headline above the photo, subhead below the photo, various lines of copy below that, then on to the next page).
It is not possible to export the photo container field out of FMP10, according to the error message I get when I try. :>)
The last time this book was produced was 5 years ago and the InD file *does* have a graphic box with text wrap on the Master page. Unfortunately when I flow in the exported text it does not honour the Master text wrap.
Three questions:
1 - In InD CS4 or CS3, is there some way to make the flowed text recognize the text wrap on the Master or do I have to manually copy/paste graphic boxes w/text wrap onto all the pages before flowing the text?
2 - In FMP, is there some way to "see" (so that it can be included in the text export) the path to each photo?
3 - FMP and/or InD: If I can automatically get the photo path, how would it be coded in the text file so that it would automatically place in InD, thus eliminating the need for an answer to question 1? I've built an object style for the box, although I'm having trouble getting it to work the way I want it to.
If I have to, I can manually insert each photo into the boxes in InD but it sure would be nice not to have to. :>)
