dp Relationship problem?
Relationship problem?
I have a solution that takes students from a one-record-per-student
system and generates outputs for each family. It sorts the records in
the Student table by FamilyID and Birthdate, then loops through and
assigns unique, ascending numerical values to StudentSequence for each
kid in the family. It then finds records where StudentSequence = 1,
and imports those FamilyIDs into the Family table, so Family contains
a single, unique instance of the (non-unique) FamilyIDs in the Student
table. There are one-to-many relationships between the tables as
follows.
Family_Student1
---------------
Family:FamilyID = Student:FamilyID
AND
Family:Constant1 = Student:StudentSequence
Family_Student2
---------------
Family:FamilyID = Student:FamilyID
AND
Family:Constant2 = Student:StudentSequence
Family_Student3
---------------
Family:FamilyID = Student:FamilyID
AND
Family:Constant3 = Student:StudentSequence
Various reports and envelope layouts are based on Family_Student1, but
also contain data drawn from the other relationships. The intent is to
mail "To the Parents of [the student whose sequence is 1]" so that
only the eldest child gets the mailing, but the data pertain to the
whole family. All of the outputs work correctly except one envelope,
which is generating a copy for every kid in the family. I've confirmed
that the layout is based on Family_Student1, that the parameters for
the relationship are as described above, that the global Constant
fields contain 1, 2, and 3, respectively, and that the StudentSequence
numbers are correct and unique within each family.
I'm stumped. What is causing this, and why to this layout alone?
Any help would be appreciated.
